First entry in new blog – just for me. And possibly Jeff (haha). Hi Jeff! To capture thinking in the development of a new body of work. Because it feels like time, and because the universe seems to agree – or I’m just looking for the signs and acting on the opportunities. A commission, an exhibition possibility with Bowen in May, and a JewelleryLAB open call (application in). Been lots of wheel spinning (reading, thinking, avoiding the studio …and now blog set-up/writing), but perhaps thats all just part of my process. Lots of ideas floating around and some potential ‘material thinking’ ways in. Great ‘conversation’ just now with Claude too. I’ve been resistant to involving AI, but lots of great food for thought. As what comes out is based on on what I put in, and I choose how to steer the conversation and what I take out of it perhaps its not as dehumanising/depersonalising as I thought.

A carved wooden spoon, a revisit of past techniques (wire drawing), some engraving tests (text, patterns, colouring in), and an itch that needs scratching (conic sections).

Lots of studio cleaning …and a let’s get to it session in the ‘Pink Room’.
