This last session started with a show and tell of our Session 5 necklace homework and finished with some post-workshop reflections on where to from here. Started by gathering together all photos, objects, photos, reflections and decide where to direct efforts next. Thinking about our gifted words, material explorations, concepts.

My chosen framework – impulsive, light touch, joyful, light-hearted, playful, experimental. Stick with wax – start with a continuation of casting techniques and candle forms. Conceptually work with and don’t fight its instrinsic properties – hard, but softens/melts with heat. Concepts – Icarus. Forms – Greek vases with imagery.

Estela also suggested a female artist working in wax that I should look at. Not sure if I’ve found her yet, but wonder if it might be Ilana Savdie (see image above) – who works with beeswax and encaustic wax painting techniques.
